  While using the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant, first thing you have to check is compatibility. When you click on the Download Pro link, you’ll have the option to download a small “stub” installer. This small 5 MB file will run a compatibility check on your computer to tell you which programs will work or not. For installing Windows 8 you have two choices, as follows:

 

ü  Install now or install later

o   For most people, It is recommend to choose Install now for the easy upgrade, but Install later from your desktop also works good. If you choose to install later, a shortcut will be created on your desktop so you can install the Windows 8 Pro upgrade when it's convenient for you. Or you can install using your link in email.

ü  Install by creating media

o   The second option is installing by media. It is an advanced installation option which requires a USB flash drive. For Windows XP SP3, this option is not available.It is recommended to install this optionfor those who need to install in a virtual environment,  as a dual boot configuration or need to install Windows 8 on a separate PC.

You install now or wait untill later, Windows 8 setup will get your PC ready. Take care of each item on the list. As you complete each item, the list will refresh mechanically.

Once you are done you will be ready to install Windows 8 Pro upgrade. Now if you need to change anything click on the Back button but if you are ready click Install.

Now your PC will restart whiles 8 is installing. If you have Windos 7, your Files/Aps/Settings will easily transfer to Windows 8. If your PC is running Windows XP or Vista, you will need to reinstall your Aps after you upgrade.

Set up Windows 8

After you've installed Windows 8, follow the steps to get it set up how you want.

Personalize

Choose a color you like—you can change the background, colours and accont picture. To setup  faster, click Use express settings or if you want to go through details, click Customize.

Sign in to your PC

you can use your email address to sign in to your PC With Windows 8, means, you need not tosign in with a user name and password. Your friends’ contact info and status can automatically stay up to date from places like Hotmail, Outlook, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Ø  You can fetch your doc./pics./files from places like SkyDrive, Facebook, and Flickr.

Ø  You can buy and download apps from the Windows Store, and use them on up to five PCs running Windows 8 orWindows RT.

Ø  Your personal settings are automatically syncronized online.

DONE

Windows will finalize your choices and then take you to your new Windows 8 Start screen.
