YOTA ENJOYS COLORS AT CES 13

The YotaPhone combines a full color display on one side with an e-reader style display on the reverse side.  This Dual screen smartphone has received an official award at this year’s consumer Electronics Show.
You may wonder why you need two different displays on a    smartphone, but it is really quite simple.  Each display has a different purpose.  The main display is used similar to a normal smartphone display, allowing you to interact with it.  The second display is an always on electronic ink display that is more for reference, that is used to content that you push from the main display.
So what can you do with the e-ink side?  Well, there are quite a few useful things.  You could add a to-do list or simply a boarding pass.  As it is always on, you won’t need to power up your smartphone from sleep to see it.  You could add a map, or directions, or load RSS feeds or other notifications.  Bearing in mind the e-ink screen does not consume battery life this makes for an interesting new direction for smartphones.
The YotaPhone is currently at the prototype stage, but with the buzz surrounding this smartphone we imagine it won’t be long before we see it enter production.  Whilst the prototype is 9mm thin, there are rumors that the production model may be even thinner.
Would you use a phone like this?  Let us know in the comments.
